To our ears, my people, are often sold,
In an instant fly, no check, as soon as told,
Of distant sounds we do not know,
And about the cause for winds that blow,
Have you heard, They say, They say…
Have you not heard; they say?
In your very ear, they say,
Kwame swam from Africa to America,
Yes, he swam to America from Africa,
It is true! Yes! Kwame swam, they say,
Yes! for a fact, they say, he swam, they say….
Like an eagle, they say,
Ama flew past the horizon, they say,
And wrestled elephants, they say,
And rode on lions across the sea, they say,
Yes! they say, they say,
But who say, They say?
I embarked on a few times and searched,
On lands far and near my feet I perched,
In search for this man who says, Mr. “They,”
From him the truth I could no more delay,
But the more I searched, the more I met; They say,
It appears, they are all in the family business, they say….
I have much ear for oral tradition,
That beyond the birth of time and tradition,
Have passed on life before us, to us
In bounteous and varied ways to us,
Yes, subscription to this “they say” media, they say,
For my peps, still with us will stay.
The ‘They say’ with us been nice and cozy,
This media has been kind and rosy,
The fact to check was all confounded,
When all we had was with us surrounded,
And all there was to know was, ‘ they say’,
No need to look beyond what they say.
But our means this day surpass the sea,
Our eyes this stage beyond can see,
Yes! The “They” family with us will say and stay,
And with our means will project what they say,
But our worth this day we seek to enhance,
Mr. ‘CHECK THE FACTS’ also deserves a chance.
