FAR OUT IN THE DIASPORA

Far out in this distant diaspora,

Our thoughts in deep anaphora,

Coming to this America,

From distant mother Africa,

We all have tales to tell,

For some, even possibly to sell.

Far out in this diaspora,

Your thoughts in deep anaphora,

Coming to this America,

From distant mother Africa,

Hopes high, our hearts elated,

For our lives we envision elevated.

Far out in this diaspora,

Your thoughts in deep anaphora,

Ideal to this engulfing noble dream,

So close in view to most it may seem,

Your own to mold, your quest for happiness,

With all to you given, to drown your sadness.

Hand in the air, straight up lifted,

For ages and seasons, she never shifted,

“Lady liberty” appears to be saying,

With sweat me lads, you will be paying,

To sup and dine at this kings table,

A fee to pay to ride a horse in this stable.

For some, this yearning is thrown in ambiguity,

As it tends to evade, this dream of opportunity,

And that which we held in head and hand so dear,

Is dumped in the dumpster all soaked in fear,

As all does not seem in this pot to easily melt,

When the heat in despair, is strongly felt.

Yes, far out in this diaspora,

Your thoughts in deep anaphora,

Discard the head you rolled in with,

And screw on a new head to be with,

Put this mind to the daunting task ahead,

Quite distinct from what you may have had.

To whom the dream of Old in depth was told to,

Is what indeed, the ropes on which they held unto to,

School up, do college, be strapped with a high degree,

Good job, look up, climb high the corporate tree,

Nice house, Nice cars, the fruits of your tree to receive,

When all beat, retired, pension, social security to receive.

Yet to recent emerging heads and minds,

A new American dream, the old to leave behind,

Less sweat, more harvest, embracing technology,

You Tube, Instagram, all tentacles of today’s prodigy,

Breaking out of the bonds of safety, and security,

Breaking in, the “Entrepreneur”, into the banks of futurity.
